Each of the major sections of the CSO will have a chance to shine in this beautiful Sunday concert series – four very distinctive programmes, based on the elements, which develop into a complementary whole.
Prepare for a feisty offering as brass dominates in this programme, the second in the Cathedral Series and subtitled Fire. It is with great pleasure we welcome back CSO’s previous Acting Principal Trumpet, Sarah Wilson as she performs Haydn’s Concerto for Trumpet in E flat Major, a work written for Haydn’s friend, Anton Weidinger.
Mallets, marimbas, xylophones, the mellifluous tones of the harp and the ChristChurch Cathedral’s magnificent organ all feature in Water, the third concert of the Cathedral Series.
The CSO’s principal wind players will enjoy the spotlight in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, a work written to exhibit the lyrical qualities of wind instruments.
The flagship series of our season featuring world renowned guest artists, masterpieces of the traditional symphonic repertoire and contemporary compositions.
