Mallets, marimbas, xylophones, the mellifluous tones of the harp and the ChristChurch Cathedral’s magnificent organ all feature in Water, the third concert of the Cathedral Series.
Mozart’s beloved Concerto for Flute and Harp is a work of passion and tenderness, exploiting this unique pairing of instruments. American composer, Steve Reich has been described as "America’s greatest living composer," last year winning the Pulitzer Prize for Music. His Music for Mallet Instruments, Voices and Organ, written in 1973, engages the human voice and the organ with the sonority of the percussion instruments and Eastern and meditative overtones.
